
A murder investigation is under way after a 93-year-old woman was found dead at a property in Greater Manchester – with a 39-year-old woman arrested at the scene.
Police said they found the elderly woman after being “alerted to an address” in Altrincham Road, Gatley, at 9.38am on Wednesday.
The force has referred itself to the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct) due to previous contact with the deceased.
Greater Manchester Police said its professional standards directorate had carried out an initial assessment and all officers remain operational.
The woman arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Adam Hitchen said the victim’s family are being supported by specialist officers.
